Tourism and Conservation Partnership

This is a not-for-profit organisation that encourages businesses to become more environmentally conscious by developing environmentally sustainable practices, and fundraising for conservation.

We support our local Site of special Scientific interest at Clints Quarry near Egremont, which is a long abandoned limestone quarry, SSSI of botanical and geological importance. Famous for its orchids and fossils.

The log cabins are built from wood from sustainable forests. We use energy efficient appliances and light bulbs. Encourage our quests to conserve energy and recycle waste.
We hope to develop renewable energy sources and water conservation measures in future.

Fairtrade

Ministerial visitWe are active in the Cumbria Fairtrade network, instigating the campaign to make Egremont a Fairtrade Town in 2006.
Welcoming the Minister of Overseas Development to Egremont (16 February 2010) to discuss Fairtrade and Africa.

We use Fairtrade products where possible and have Traidcraft products for sale.
We now supply Organic Fairtrade coffee from Fairground (Cumbria suppliers) who are giving 50% of the profit of the sale of this coffee to support the Red Squirrel Conservation Project in conjunction with the Tourism and Conservation Partnership.

Wigwam Hide

Hide for watching Roe Deer drinking from pond.

Wigwam HideWe commissioned Helen Elvin in 2007 to build a Wigwam ‘hide’ in our woods. Helen’s a qualified Forest Schools Practitioner and produces wonderful willow sculptures and rustic seating.
